Rishikesh is a city in Uttarakhand, India. It is a municipal board in Dehradun district of the state. It is a renowned holy city for the Hindus and a famous place for pilgrimage. Also known as the gateway to the Himalayas, Rishikesh is the starting point for travelling to the sites that form the famous Char Dham pilgrimage comprising of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Rafting is a part of Rishikesh Tourism . Scenically located as the Ganges, the holy river flows down from the Himalayas. The city has also numerous ashrams. And it is still known as the World Capital of Yoga. The popular band, the Beatles once dropped for a visit to the city to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Ashram. However Rishikesh tours are popular all throughout the year.

Muni-ki-reti and Swargashram, Rishikund, Triveni Ghat, Geeta bhawan, Lakshman jhula, skiing and river rafting and the ashrams across the town, which impart spiritual lessons on meditation and well being of the mind.

Luxury and normal Buses to Rishikesh are easily available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate and Meerut. Buses and Taxis to Rishikesh are available from major destinations of Uttarakhand like Dehradun, Haridwar, Srinagar, Tehri, Uttarkashi etc.

By train :

Rishikesh is well connected by railway networks . Trains to Rishikesh Railway station are frequent.

By Air:

Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest Airport to Rishikesh situated at a distance of 21kms. Taxis are also easily available from Jolly Grant Airport to Rishikesh.
