Almora is the most popular hill station of Uttarakhand state. it is the cultural capital of Kumoun region. this island of peace on a 5 km mountain range situated at an altitude of 1650 meters above sea level is in the shape of a horse shoe. It is a myth that Almora is discovered by British. Almora was the seat of power of the Chand dynasty. Chand dynasty ruled the Aumoun for approximately a millennium. Almora has maintained the same old tradition, which can be seen in the construction of the houses and in the roads made out of slate stone. How to reach Almora :

You can reach almora by air, rail or road. the nearest airport is Pant Nagar in Uttaranchal which is 127kms far from almora. The nearest railway station is kathgodam (90 kms). Almora is well connected by roads with the major north indian cities. delhi (380kms). Pithoragarh (122kms), nainital (66kms.) private taxis and jeeps are also available for local transport.

Almora by bus :

By Bus- regular bus services are available from Delhi to Almora, the distance covered is about 200 km. luxury bus services are also available. State owned buses connects Almora to other cities in and around  

By Train :

Nearest railway station is at Kathgodam. Kathgodam railway station to almora city is about 91 km. Which can be covered by nearly 3 hours and for a cab it costs about rs 1500, one way. Kathgodam is connected to many cities in the state.

By Air :

Nearest airport is Pantnagar, which is about 125 km away from the heart of almora. Taxi costs about rs 1600/ from airport to Almora. Pantnagar is connected to Delhi on alternate days.
